TRIO programs are administered and funded by the United States Department of Education. Sandburg is proud to host three TRIO programs:

TRIO Student Support Services (SSS)
TRIO SSS provides support and guidance to eligible students during your time at Sandburg. It helps participants graduate from Sandburg and transfer to a four-year college or university in pursuit of a bachelor's degree.

TRIO Upward Bound
This federal grant program, originally developed from the Educational Opportunity Act of 1964 and created as a result of the war on poverty, TRIO Upward Bound helps increase the success of low-income students in post-secondary education.

TRIO Upward Bound Math-Science
The UBMS program helps prepare first-generation and income-eligible college-bound students for success in higher education. It helps students recognize and develop the potential to excel in math and science and to encourage the pursuit of post-secondary degrees in those fields.
