Tuition examples
For 2024-2025, full-time attendance is 12 credit hours, and you’ll pay $2,136 in tuition with an additional $25 registration fee for a total of $2,161. If you’re enrolled in a specialized program, add the course and program fees outlined below.
Proof of residency
Permanent move within the district
If you live in the Sandburg’s district #518 30 days prior to the beginning of the term, you’ll pay in-district tuition. If you move from outside the district to within the district on a permanent basis, email the Registrar's office, or call 309.341.5233 to update your address and billing info.
Temporary move within the district
If you don’t live in Sandburg’s district #518, you can request out-of-district/out-of-state tuition be waived, if you provide Financial Aid the following documents one full working day prior to the semester start:
- A lease signed 30 days prior to the semester start
and - A completed request for a waiver for out-of-district tuition submitted before the first day of classes for the term.
Career program provides in-district rates for students enrolling in career programs outside their home district
If you enroll at Sandburg for a career program not offered at your local community college, you may qualify for in-district tuition rates under the CAREER program agreement.
KNOX & MONMOUTH COLLEGE STUDENTS
If you’re a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen and concurrently enrolled at Monmouth College or Knox College, you can attend Sandburg at the in-district rate by completing an out-of-district tuition waiver request for Knox/Monmouth enrollment request and submitting a copy of your transcript, class schedule or current term bill at Knox or Monmouth College:
Adjustments are made each semester upon request to Financial Aid.
THE VETERANS ACCESS, CHOICE & ACCOUNTABILITY ACT OF 2014 (CHOICE ACT)
If you’re a qualifying active duty, veteran or dependent participating in the Post-9/11 GI Bill or the Montgomery GI Bill will be charged in-district tuition when you attend Sandburg.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT RATE
If you’re an international student attending Sandburg on an F-1 visa, you’re charged the out-of-state tuition rate. International students are limited to one online class per semester. You’re required to pay tuition in full or enroll in the payment plan online by the current tuition deadline dates.
OTHER OPTIONS FOR IN-DISTRICT TUITION RATES
- If you live out of the district but work in the district, you can provide a letter you’re your employer (on company letterhead stationery and signed by a company officer) stating you’re a current full-time employee of the company.
- If you’re a Farmington High School graduate, email Admissions, or call 309.341.5230 for more information regarding in-district rates.
WHEN IS TUITION DUE?
View the various tuition due dates and payment plan info below. Keep in mind if you don’t pay by the deadlines, you’ll be dropped for non-payment. You can also set up an authorized user (proxy) who can view your financial info and provide payment.
On the tuition due date:
- Online payments are accepted until midnight.
- Payment is accepted until 5 p.m. in the Business Office at both Galesburg and Carthage campuses.
Fall 2024 tuition
Tuition is due on Aug. 6. After Aug. 6, tuition is due the day of enrollment.

Postcard notification of tuition due dates
You can access your student account on mySandburg to view your balance due, pay your bill or sign up for a payment plan. The online statement includes anticipated financial aid. You’ll receive reminders of the tuition deadline by email, text messages and a postcard approximately 10 days before the tuition deadline. Monitor mySandburg following any change in enrollment or financial aid.
Financial aid payments
Financial aid is applied to student accounts approximately 10 days before tuition is due. If you don’t have your aid finalized, you’ll need to pay your tuition in full or sign up for the payment plan.
